Every morning, I begin my day by lighting a stick of incense. Not out of habit, but out of love. It’s my quiet moment of joy—a moment where I remember to breathe deeply, set an intention, and feel connected. At Asvi, incense is not just a product we create; it’s a ritual we live by.
I often get asked: “What does incense really do? Is it just about fragrance?”
Not at all. Incense is an ancient tool of harmony—and today, more than ever, we need that harmony in our homes, minds, and hearts.
Incense as Happiness in the Air
Science tells us that our sense of smell is directly linked to the limbic system—the part of our brain that processes emotion. A single whiff of orange blossom or sandalwood can lift your spirits, lower anxiety, and even reduce physical tension. But long before labs could prove this, our ancestors already knew it.
Across India, incense was used to cleanse spaces, sanctify rituals, and elevate the spirit. At Asvi, we honour that tradition but reimagine it with a fresh lens—curating blends for modern homes, moods, and mindfulness.
Whether it’s a blend of mogra and vetiver to calm your nerves, or frankincense and lemon to sharpen your focus, every stick we make is crafted to bring joy. Real, grounded joy—not the fleeting kind.
How Incense Became My Personal Anchor
I started Asvi in a deeply transitional period of my life—when I needed grounding more than ever. And incense became that anchor. It helped me centre myself on tough days, re-energise during long work stretches, and wind down when sleep felt far away.
Now, I keep different blends for different moods:
-
Uplift – a citrusy floral for those days I feel heavy.
-
Clarity – resinous and minty, perfect for deep work.
-
Love – soft, grounding, and nostalgic… the one I light during self-care Sundays.
I never light incense to “mask” something. I light it to reveal—to return to presence, to emotion, to joy.
A Daily Practice for Inner Glow
Wellness is not just green juice and yoga mats. Sometimes, it’s about small, intentional acts that bring light into our routines. Lighting incense can be that spark:
-
Before you open your laptop.
-
After you clean your space.
-
While journaling, praying, meditating—or simply breathing.
And if you do it consistently, it becomes more than scent. It becomes a state of being.
Choosing the Right Incense for Your Mood
At Asvi, we design incense to match intentions. Not just “flavours”, but feelings:
-
Feeling Anxious? Try something with frankincense, lavender, or white sandalwood.
-
Need a Boost? Go for citrus notes, patchouli, or tulsi.
-
Looking for Love (or self-love)? Rose, vanilla, and champa work like soul hugs.
We only use Ayurvedic herbs, ethically sourced flowers, and zero charcoal—because wellness also means choosing what doesn’t harm you.
An Invitation from Me to You
If you’ve never tried incense as a ritual, I invite you to start. Light one stick tomorrow morning. Breathe with it. Let the scent guide you inward.
This isn’t about making your house smell good. It’s about feeling good in yourself.
A Few of My Favourite Scents to Start With
If you’re wondering where to begin, let me share a few of my go-to blends from Asvi that I turn to again and again. When I need a grounding moment of clarity, I reach for the Mandodari Incense Cones—inspired by the strength of Himalayan rivers, they have this serene depth that instantly calms me. On days when my mind feels scattered, the Meditation Incense Sticks help me return to centre with their gentle blend of frankincense, whitewood, and sacred herbs. And for moments that call for softness and warmth, the Ananya Incense Sticks—with their lush, comforting floral notes—feel like an embrace in scent form. These blends are close to my heart because they were born from moments that shaped me. I hope, in some small way, they become part of your own ritual of joy and presence too.
Incense helped me reconnect—with stillness, with purpose, with joy.
I hope it does the same for you.
Warmly,
Rhythm
